Kolter: Trapped

That Kolter track everyone is playing? It is built on two late-80s club records.

Colonel Abrams, Trapped 12-inch sleeve

Trapped, 2026

Kolter's Trapped came out on 10 April 2026, on the EP What Did You Come For? It gave him his first No. 1 on Beatport's overall chart and his first UK Singles Chart entry. Behind the track are two sampled records, not one: Sandeé's Notice Me and Colonel Abrams' Trapped. Kolter combines the Sandeé vocal with multiple musical elements from Colonel Abrams' recording.

Colonel Abrams, Trapped

Colonel Abrams' Trapped was released in 1985 on MCA Records. It was written by Colonel Abrams and Marston Freeman and produced by Richard Burgess. The original reached No. 3 in the UK and No. 1 on the US Dance Club Play chart. Kolter takes multiple musical elements from this record, while the vocals and lyrics come from a different source.

Sandeé, Notice Me

That vocal source is the acapella of Notice Me, released in 1988 by Sandeé. Sandeé, whose name was Sandra Casañas, was an original member of Exposé. Notice Me was produced by C+C Music Factory and reached No. 9 on the US Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. Its vocals and lyrics are sampled in Kolter's Trapped. The connection to Notice Me sits alongside the musical elements taken from Colonel Abrams' Trapped: two records with separate roles in Kolter's track.
